How many times have you worked hard to ensure that all the yummy goodies that everyone likes are on the menu?
How many years have you worked all night and all day to ensure that everything was perfect to impress all your guests?
How many times have you been exhausted to the point of not enjoying all the great food and the moments with friends and family?
After many years of working to accomplish all of the above, there is a solution that I would like to share with you. Whether you use it or not, think about it for the future whether Thanksgiving or maybe some other time.
Night before – while having your favorite drink ( tea, wine, beer, etc)
Main Menu – 3 – 6 Turkey Legs (Prepare the night before) Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside
- Rinse and dry turkey legs.
- Rub butter and sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic salt to season .
- Place legs in roasting pan roast in preheated oven 350 degrees.
- Roast uncovered for 1 ½ to 2 hours until golden brown.
Next Day: Thanksgiving Day
Appetizer – Boar’s Head Red Pepper Hummus w/ Pretzel Crisps
- Place Turkey legs in roasting pan, pour Swanson Chicken broth over the legs as they heat up.
- Cut the turkey off the bones and let it sit in the broth.
Candied Sweet Potatoes – 400 degrees
- Place 5-6 large sweet potatoes in the microwave for 15-20 minutes until soft
- Remove skin and place in mixing bowl.
- Add ½ c of brown sugar, ½ granulated sugar.
- Add ¼ c of butter.
- Add 1 eggs.
- Mix all ingredients together place in casserole dish and cook for 30-35 minutes.
Green Bean Casserole (Preheat 350 degrees)
- 2 cans of (10 ½ oz.) Del Monte Green Beans drained
- 1 can of Campbells Cream of Mushroom sour
- 1/8 tsp of black pepper
- 1/8 tsp of salt
- Mix the soup and and green beans place in baking dish, sprinkle French’s onions all over the top and cook for 25 minutes.
Dressing w/Mushrooms (Preheat 350 degrees)
- 2 boxes Stove Top stuffing mixt follow directions on box
- 1 cup portobellow mushrooms pieces to mix with dressing
- ¼ c of butter or margarine
- 2 ½ c Swanson chicken broth
- Bake for 20 -25 or until heated through
Macaroni & Cheese
- 2 boxes of Velveeta Shells & Cheese
- Boil the shell pasta for 10 minutes, drain water, add the cheese sauce and mix
Desserts
- Purchase a Sweet Potatoe Pie from local Deli
- Purchase Pumpkin Roll from local Deli
Dinner Rolls
- Purchase Sister Shuberts’s Dinner Yeast Rolls
- 2-6 rolls butter the tops heat for 5-10 min or browned
