Talking Is Good Writing Is Better?

#Perspective #Communication

You may agree or Disagree. Someone speaking from their mouth to your ears may take on a different meaning. You might say the same thing happens in writing. It all goes back to each person’s perception of what was said or how the words on the paper affected their psyche. How many times have you read an email or received a text and the message was not clear? On the other hand, have you heard someone speak and the message you heard was different than what someone else heard simultaneously?

Each person has a different perspective based on their background knowledge, culture, and relationship with that individual. Technology is a wonderful aid when it works but when it doesn’t the frustration is immediate and sometimes devastating to those involved. The world as we know it is moving to an area of artificial intelligence (AI) where we don’t really need to talk to one another face-to-face anymore. In the process we become distant and our communication skills are built on texting, emails, chat, or instant messenger.

Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy all the aspects of modern technology even as it relates to cars and all the safety features touted by the many manufacturers. What I’m leading to is how much time you take to talk to someone who may not be in your immediate circle of peers, friends or family to talk to in-person or possibly over Zoom since we now have that capability. Technology has given us the opportunity and availability to do just that at a time and place of our choosing to meet new people different from ourselves.
